Safety of new energy vehicles in tunnels, the main focus of the webinar
organized by PIARC, ITA-COSUF and KPT

The increase in recent years of the use of electric transport, both hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCV) and battery electric vehicles (BEV), brings new challenges for emergency interventions, such as safety operations in tunnels.

This will be the subject of the international seminar "New Energy Vehicles in Road Tunnels" organized by PIARC, ITA-COSUF and KPT, to be held virtually on October 20 and 21, 2021.

In the session, the knowledge gained in recent years on the risks posed by this type of vehicle in a tunnel fire, combined with the presence of conventional fuel vehicles or other new energy vehicles, will be presented. Knowing the behavior of fire and defining the keys to action for firefighters are essential to be able to deal with the emergency and guarantee safety on the road.
