4.1 Pavements

Technical Committee 4.1 "Pavements" focuses not only on topics relating to innovative methods and procedures for maintenance, including the identification of solutions for maintaining the availability during the execution of maintenance measures as well as the future use of data-driven approaches for the monitoring of pavements, but also on aspects of sustainability (recycling and carbon footprint). Issues related to the improvement of the resilience of pavements are also addressed within a specific topic. (extract from the Strategic Plan)

Techincal Committee 4.1 "Pavements" Chair

With more than 27 years of experience in the field of transport, Margo Briessinck (Belgium), civil engineer, senior advisor of a division at the Agency for Road and Traffic, is very involved in the Association. He was a member of the PIARC technical committee "Surface Characteristics" during the 2008-2011 cycle and has been a member of the "Pavements committee" since 2012. Margo has been appointed Chair of the Pavements Committee for the 2020-2023 cycle.

Interviewed during the meetings to launch this cycle in February 2020 in Marne-la-Vallée (France), Margo explains the objectives of the 4.1 "Pavements" committee.
