Earthen roads, in the general sense, make up over 90% of the road network in Côte d’Ivoire (AGEROUTE CI, 2024), as in most West African countries. Although these roads typically carry low traffic volumes, they play a crucial role in opening up rural areas and transporting agricultural products. As such, their socio-economic importance should not be underestimated.
