Influence of Activated Fixed Fire-Fighting Systems on User Behaviour during Self-Evacuation

An important objective of safety measures in road tunnels is to ensure that tunnel users are able to self-rescue in the case of an incident. The influence of fixed fire-fighting systems (FFFS) on the success of self-evacuation of tunnel users has been investigated in a virtual reality (VR) situation and in real tests to establish their effect on the tunnel users' evacuation behaviour.
