PIARC (World Road Association), founded in 1909 and comprising 125 member governments from all over the world, is the global forum for exchange of knowledge and experience on roads, road transport policies and practices. With consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, the Association is contributing to a stable and sustainable global development of the road and transport sector.

VIth World Road Congress - Washington 1930

One year after the stock market crash, the Congress took place for the first time outside of Europe. It took place in Washington, DC, in the Constitution Hall and in the US Chamber of Commerce from 6 to 10 October 1930.

Sixty-eight nations were represented. Approximately 1400 delegates participated.
