Road Asset Management: from Local Level to Supranational Perspectives, from Successfully Implemented Approaches to Visions for the Future
A developed, high-capacity and safe road network is the basis for growth and prosperity in all national economies. It enables mobility, which is an essential prerequisite for our globalised, work-sharing economy and for a high quality of life and, therefore, for a society’s prosperity. A comparative study of sustainability tools to assess an asphalt road pavement's life cycle
This article shows why road authorities and contractors have an interest in quantifying GHG emissions and energy consumption to make sustainable choices for road pavements.
-
Taking decisions in the rehabilitation of flexible pavements based on non-destructive measurements
The present paper outlines a proposal that allows to develop an intervention approach with regard to the rehabilitation of the pavement, as well as the determination of the thicknesses of reinforcement, based on the deflection bowl parameters.
-
Load capacity measurements with the traffic speed deflectometer (TSD)
This article shows that assessment of the structural pavement condition plays a crucial role in an economic pavement maintenance planning. Therefore, investigations are necessary in order to develop a suitable background for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of load bearing capacity of asphalt constructions.

New pavement types reduce rolling resistance
This article describes how the implementation of a new asphalt pavement type reducing the rolling resistance enabled the reduction in CO 2 emissions in Denmark.
