Patrick Malléjacq
PIARC Secretary General
At PIARC, we face a challenge, but a rather pleasant one: we have so many activities that it is becoming difficult to promote them all effectively. We don't want to spam our members. Furthermore, we operate in a context of budgetary restraint and limited resources.
So, what can we do? We are implementing two measures, among others.
The first is based on the idea of “focused campaigns”. During a given week, we concentrate our communication efforts on a specific theme. The goal is to maximize our chances of having a real impact and being truly heard. The recent “PIARC Infrastructure Week,” which is presented further in this Letter, has enabled us to improve our performance on LinkedIn: 9,271 impressions (+85.2%), 247 reactions (+147%), 6 comments (+500%), and 10 shares (+233.3%). All our members are also invited to get involved in these initiatives.
The second measure consists of mobilizing our networks of experts and encouraging them to contribute directly themselves. For example, experts from a Technical Committee that has just published a technical report or is organizing an international seminar can share these experiences and topics on social media by their own. The General Secretariat then relays these messages from the Association's official accounts.
In conclusion, we encourage all of you, dear readers and members, to promote PIARC. We exist and are so active thanks to you and for you!
