A successful International Workshop on bridges took place in Japan!

11 May 2023 - International Workshop "Inspection, management and rehabilitation of Road Bridges"

On May 11, 2023, an International Workshop focusing on "Inspection, management and rehabilitation of Road Bridges" was held in Kobe, Japan, under the supervision of PIARC Technical Committee 4.2 "Bridges" and jointly organised with the Honshu-Shikoku Bridge Expressway Company and the Japan Road Association. With a participation of 150 professionals from 10 countries, the workshop aimed to facilitate knowledge sharing and discuss best practices in the field. The 3 main topics broached were:

  • Inspection and management of road bridges in various countries,
  • Rehabilitation techniques for road bridges in various countries,
  • Maintenance and management of cable supported bridges in Japan and abroad.

This technical workshop served as a platform for professionals from different countries to discuss key challenges and case studies and successfully highlighted various approaches to the inspection, the rehabilitation techniques, and the maintenance of cable supported bridges. The knowledge shared during the workshop will undoubtedly contribute to improving road bridge techniques in order to develop safer and more sustainable infrastructures worldwide.
