Term of the Road Dictionary

microtexture

  • Theme : Operations Road Surface Characteristics
  • Definition : Surface irregularities of a road pavement with horizontal dimensions ranging between 0 and 0.5 mm and vertical dimensions between 0 and 0.2 mm. Note: microtexture is related to the asperities of the coarse aggregate, the sand particles and the road surface in contact with the rubber of tyres. It makes the surface feel more or less harsh but is normally too small to be observed by the eye.

  • Definition : Unebenheit der Oberfläche einer Fahrbahnbefestigung mit einer horizontalen Ausdehnung zwischen 0 und 0,5 mm und einer vertikalen Ausdehnung zwischen 0 und 0,2 mm. Die Feintextur ist abhängig von der Rauheit der groben Mineralstoffe, den Sandpartikeln und dem Kontakt zwischen der Straßenoberfläche und dem Gummi der Reifen. Sie lässt die Oberfläche mehr oder weniger ausgeprägt spürbar sein, ist aber normalerweise zu klein, um mit dem Auge bemerkt zu werden.
