Experts from the USA present the positive experience of engaging with PIARC

02 October 2020

Based on an original idea of the Federal Highway Administration, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) produced a video where USA PIARC Technical Committee members talk about the benefits of engaging with PIARC.

PIARC offers experts a platform to discover and share innovative ways to design, build, operate and maintain transportation infrastructure projects. The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) - PIARC’s USA National Committee – produced a video which highlights the international collaboration made possible by PIARC. In this video you will hear from enthusiastic experts in the areas of safety, highway construction, engineering, and freight about the professional and personal rewards they have gained by participating in PIARC, including the possibility to meet some of the top experts in the world, to share information and experiences and to learn from each other. This video was made in January 2020 when AASHTO and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) met to introduce USA experts to the work of PIARC and how the Technical Committees operate.

PIARC National Committees, representatives of the Association at national level

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and its core membership of 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, have been members of PIARC for many years. In 2011, AASHTO, in accordance with a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Highways Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation (FHWA), became the National Committee of our Association. National Committees contribute to the dissemination of PIARC outputs, organize local activities such as meetings, conferences and seminars, and undertake some membership services and administration duties in their own countries. Today, National Committees are active in 47 countries.

If this is not already the case, will your country be next? Once established, this unique partnership with PIARC will provide the National Committee with many advantages including the participation in the Association Council meetings with a voting right, the participation in the annual meeting of the Conference of National Committees, the ability to promote the activities of the National Committee in the monthly electronic newsletter, the access to the members area of the Associations’ website, etc.
