PIARC welcomes its two new member countries!

At its recent meeting, held on 30 September in Prague in conjunction with the World Road Congress, the Council accepted the applications of two new member countries: the Republic of Georgia and the Republic of Djibouti. With 126 member countries now, our Association has confirmed its attractiveness throughout the world. We can be sure that these two countries will soon be appointing experts to our Technical Committees and hosting seminars on their territories. We wish them a warm welcome to the PIARC family!

The Austrian National Committee celebrates its 50th anniversary!

In 1973, the National Committee was founded by a group of committed experts from administration, engineering, education and business, at the suggestion of the then Federal Ministry of Public Works. On 14 November 2023, a party was held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the National Committee, and to celebrate Austria's continued participation within PIARC.

The Spanish National Committee organised three workshops in October and November!

Since the last World Road Congress held early October, the ATC organised three technical activities:

  • Workshop on "Sustainable Pavements" where the document "Guide to design bituminous mixtures at low temperatures" was delivered,
  • Workshop on "Improvements in Road Safety - Cycling",
  • Workshop on "Placement and removal of lane closure signs for works - New recommendations".

The Polish National Committee visited Kazakhstan

From 13 to 17 November 2023, a delegation from the Polish Road Congress as the PIARC National Committee took part in the Kaztraffic exhibition, an opportunity to celebrate the new National Committee of Kazakhstan. "This is a great honour for us, as it was as a result of the discussions we started with the Kazakh side in 2019 that this organisation was created and became fully involved in cooperation with PIARC. Our cooperation will continue, as Kazakhstan is very interested in the road construction guidelines and standards currently being prepared in Poland and the opportunities for Polish companies to enter the Kazakh market." Aleksandra SKORUPSKA, PIARC Technical Advisor and Member of the Polish National Committee.
