As this newsletter shows once again, PIARC has a very busy schedule of events. We organize seminars in low- and middle-income countries, workshops in wealthier countries, internal meetings of our Technical Committees, conferences, and, of course, Congresses. Our next Congress, the 17th World Winter Service and Road Resilience Congress, will be held from March 10 to 13, 2026. Registration will open soon, and delegates traveling to Chambéry, France, will be able to see by themselves how global this event is in terms of its themes, which are relevant to all countries regardless of their specific conditions. All these events allow experts and practitioners to share their solutions and challenges, and also to identify areas for progress together. [...]

PIARC Executive Committee meets in Astana

PIARC's Executive Committee met on April 7 and 8 in Astana (Kazakhstan) to advance its work on the Association's strategic orientations. This was the first face-to-face meeting of its new members since their election at the end of 2024.

First episode of the PIARC podcast “Global Road Voices” is live!

We are excited to announce the launch of PIARC’s new podcast series featuring in-depth conversations with transportation experts. In the first episode, our Secretary General Patrick Malléjacq sits down with Christos Xenophontos, Chair of PIARC Technical Committee 1.1 "Performance of Transport Administrations" to discuss the future of transport governance.

Gender Inclusion and Diversity Training Program is available online (for PIARC members only) 

Over a year ago PIARC launched its Gender Equality and Diversity ("PGID", Promotion of Gender Inclusion and Diversity) Training Program. All PIARC members are encouraged to take this training to enhance their understanding of gender inclusion and diversity, and how PIARC can support this work. 

International Conference "Decarbonizing the Road Sector: Global Strategies for Infrastructure and Road Users" 

Just less than in a week the 1st international Conference on Decarbonizing the Road Sector will open its doors in Vienna. 

April in Review: Through the Lens of PIARC’s Technical Committees 

April was a dynamic and fruitful month for PIARC, marked by a series of hard-hitting seminars and workshops organized by its technical committees. These internal meetings enabled our international experts to discuss the following topics:

Austrian Winter Service Congress returns to Wels 

Organized by the Austrian National PIARC Committee, the 15th ASTRAD Symposium will be held on May 14 and 15, 2025 in Wels. Created over 25 years ago to publish the results of PIARC's winter congresses, the symposium has now become a major event. It will bring together 130 exhibitors over 23,000 m² and will feature lectures by internationally renowned experts.

The PIARC-Québec Committee celebrates its 30 years 

The PIARC Québec Committee, established in 1995 in preparation for the 20th World Road Congress in Montreal, serves as an integral component of the Quebec Transport Association (AQTR). To mark its anniversary, a distinguished panel of Quebec experts, led by the President of the PIARC-Québec National Committee, convened to explore the implementation of Vision Zero and safe system approaches. 

Slovak Road Conference 2025

The Slovak Road Association organized the Road Conference 2025 to mark the 35th anniversary of its founding. As the PIARC National Committee, the Association celebrated this milestone by recognizing several individuals for their contributions. The conference brought together around 200 experts from Slovakia and the Czech Republic, who focused on topics such as road and bridge planning, construction, innovative technologies, and the advantages of collaboration with PIARC.
