Dear colleagues and friends,

The term resilience is one that PIARC often uses. One of our Committees deals with "Climate Change and Resilience of Road Networks", one of our four strategic themes is entitled "Resilient infrastructure", and it is one of our cross-cutting priority topics: almost all of our 21 Technical Committees or Task Forces work on one of the components of road and transport resilience.

What I would like to mention here is the resilience of our Association in the face of the COVID-19 crisis, which unfortunately is still raging. We were able to set up, very quickly, a response team masterfully led by our Secretary General Patrick Malléjacq, who in four months organised more than 20 webinars devoted to the impact of the crisis on the road world [...]

The final proceedings of the XXVIth World Road Congress have just been published on PIARC’s website! 

Under the theme "Connecting Cultures, Enabling Economies", the XXVIth World Road Congress, held from 6 to 10 October 2019 in Abu Dhabi (UAE), confirmed its role as a major event for the road sector worldwide. More than 5,000 delegates from 145 countries and 42 Ministers of Transport took part in the event.

On the website you will find the general report of the Congress, the Congress programme, the introductory reports and conclusions of the sessions, individual papers selected by the Technical Committees and Task Forces, national reports produced by PIARC member countries, and PIARC's activity report for each of the years since the last World Road Congress in Seoul in 2015.

One month left to contribute to PIARC’s next World Winter Service and Road Resilience Congress! 

Are you a road or transport expert? Join PIARC in Calgary in February 2022 by submitting your abstract before November 30th! The XVIth World Winter Service and Road Resilience Congress will focus on "Adapting to a Changing World" and will be structured around two Themes: Winter Service and Resilience. PIARC has launched a call for papers on 15 topics in order to contribute to the Congress.

Meet the Chairs of the 22 Technical Committees and Task Forces for the 2020 - 2023 Work Cycle 

During the kick-off meetings of the new PIARC work cycle that took place in Paris from 22 January to 14 February 2020, the Chairs of the 22 Technical Committees and Task Forces presented the themes on which they will work for the 2020 - 2023 cycle. From October 19th till 21st, PIARC's Executive Committee met online for their very first meeting of the 2020-2023 work cycle. Great engagement with PIARC stakeholders in road and transport administrations from different countries around the world, making PIARC resourceful and valuable.

With its broad membership base and geographic diversity, PIARC's vision is to "take a leading role in sharing knowledge on policies and practices in an integrated and sustainable transportation context". PIARC’s Technical Committee 2.3 at the virtual ITS International Freight Discussion 

8th October 2020, online

Last October 8th, PIARC’s Technical Committee 2.3 “Freight” members (Tiffany Julien, Transportation Specialist, USDOT - Federal Highway Administration, Jens Dierke, Research Associate, Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), and Olivier Quoy, Chief Executive Officer, ATLANDES) participated in the ITS International Freight discussion, focused on ITS solutions for road freight traffic, operations, and monitoring. They provided presentations on innovative solutions that included truck management initiatives and truck parking projects.
