PIARC (World Road Association), founded in 1909 and comprising 125 member governments from all over the world, is the global forum for exchange of knowledge and experience on roads, road transport policies and practices. With consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, the Association is contributing to a stable and sustainable global development of the road and transport sector.

Transport systems for World Expo 2005 Aichi, Japan

15 million people are expected to visit Expo 2005. This equates to an average of 150 000 people per day. Effective transport systems are critical to the Expo's success. Transport systems consistent with the "Nature's Wisdom" theme have been developted. The use of high capacity public transport systems to deliver visitors to site has been adopted. Major new transport infrastructure(roads and trains) have been created. The transportation network is supported by the Information Technology (IT) project. The IT project consists of three systems: Reservation System, Support and Navigation System, and Visitor Information System.
