Value engineering program

This article defines value engineering, and evaluates the value engineering programme of the Federal Higway Administration (FHWA) in the USA and its States. Value engineering is a recognised analysis technique, systematically applied by a multidisciplinary team. It is a basically functinally orientied process, examining ways to: improve overall design, simplify project construction, improve product maintenance and reduce a project's initial and/or life cycle cost.
