Through Traffic in Small Towns

This report was written by two Technical Committees of PIARC, PIARC Technical Committee on Interurban Roads (C4) and PIARC Technical Committee on Roads in Urban Areas (C10).

The report summarizes the experience of several countries (Belgium, Federal Republic of Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Austria and Switzerland) in finding solutions to the problems of through traffic in small towns and it places particular emphasis on safety and environmental aspects. The information has been used to provide recommendations to both technicians and decision makers.

This issue of "Routes/Roads" also contains the report "The Urban Road Network Design ".
