Strategic Theme C - Road Safety*

United Nations General Assembly Resolution 64/2551 of March 2010 proclaimed 2011-2020 as the Decade of Action for Road Safety, with the objective of stabilising and then reducing the number of deaths worldwide due to road accidents. The resolution called on Member States to promote road safety, including road safety management, road infrastructure, vehicle safety, road user behaviour, road safety training and care for road accident victims. It was followed by a global action plan, developed by the World Health Organization, which proposed a set of activities structured along these five pillars to guide Member States’ action.
