Risks associated with natural disasters, climate change, man-made disasters and security threats

This report presents:

  • the methodological approach developed in the United States CAPTA (Costing Asset Protection: An All Hazards Guide for Transportation Agencies) for evaluating risks associated with all hazards;
  • a set of practical techniques, developed in Japan,for managing risks associated with associated with heavy rainfall and earthquakes;
  • initiatives taken around the world for the development of methodological approaches for managing climate change risks and the corresponding adaptation measures of transportation infrastructure;
  • the content of a Toolbox, which will be accessible as a website, consisting of a set of inventory sheets presenting policy, techniques and operational (maintenance) technologies/tools for road risk management.
