The US initiative, vehicle-infrastructure integration (VII), was initially based on the use of specialized short-range communications, but now includes the use of several types of communication technology. 2. In Europe, a vehicle-infrastructure integration project has been developed under the name CVIS (cooperative vehicle-infrastructure systems) [OQLF].
