Term of the Road Dictionary

flocculation

  • Definition : Formation of a discrete gel (under the action of a ''flocculant'') in a colloidal suspension, which encapsulates the colloid in the form of ''flakes'' Note: this is a reversible form of breaking, contrary to what takes place during coalescence.
