Mohr's envelope

  • Definition : Curve representing the relation that exists between shear stress and normal stress applied to a given surface of a homogeneous and isotropic solid when shear rupture occurs along this surface. Notes: 1. In its useful range, this curve can be assimilated to a straight line. 2. The triaxial test is used to determine it.

  • Definition : Eine Kurve, die das Verhältnis zwischen Schub- und Normalspannung repräsentiert, wenn sie auf eine bestimmte Oberfläche eines homogenen und isotropen Festkörpers aufgebracht wird, während ein Scherbruch entlang dieser Oberfläche erfolgt. In seinem nutzbaren Bereich kann eine Gerade an diese Kurve angepasst werden. Der Triaxialversuch wird zur Bestimmung dieser Kurve verwendet.
