Este Seminario Internacional "Pendientes, Drenaje de Obras Subterráneas y Gestión del Drenaje Pluvial" ha sido conjuntamente organizado por el Comité Técnico 4.4 "Obras Subterráneas y Carreteras sin pavimentar", el Ministerio de Obras Públicas de Malasia, la Administración de Autopistas de Malasia Junta de Desarrollo de la Industria de la Construcción de Malasia  y la  Asociación de Ingenieros de Caminos de Malasia

Resumen del Seminario

A la Conferencia organizada junto con el  Seminario asistieron 960 delegados de 21 países, incluidos los países asiáticos vecinos, así como Benin, Egipto, Madagascar, Marruecos, México, y los Estados Unidos.

El Honorable Ministro de Obras Públicas de Malasia pronunció un discurso en la ceremonia de apertura, introduciendo un total de 46 ponencias orales en 11 sesiones técnicas además de los trabajos adicionales presentados en las sesiones de posters.

Entre las características técnicas del seminario se incluyeron temas tales como el uso de los GIS (Gestión de Información Geográfica) en la gestión de taludes, el efecto de diseño de drenaje en la estabilidad de taludes, una técnica exitosa de gestión de aguas pluviales, y el concepto de pavimentación perpetua.

Los fallos en las pendientes en los climas tropicales están vinculados a una mayor presión de agua en los poros en las pendientes. Un mantenimiento de por vida del sistema de drenaje es crucial para asegurar su integridad y funcionalidad y por tanto la estabilidad de las pendientes. Un Sistema de Información Geoespacial para la gestión de pendientes ha permitido al Departamento de Obras Públicas de Malasia identificar los peligros y riesgos de taludes en Malasia y dar prioridad a las pendientes que requieren atención inmediata de mantenimiento y trabajos de reparación.

Un miembro del Comité Técnico 4.4 presentó un estudio sobre la gestión del agua de escorrentía de las carreteras. La contención de lixiviados y los accidentes por derrames, tienen un impacto perjudicial sobre el estado de las estructuras para la recogida del agua y para el terreno. Un sistema de filtración se ha aplicado con éxito en Italia y consiste en una combinación de sistemas de tratamiento y de emergencia.

El Prof. Molenaar, de la Universidad de Delft, Países Bajos, presentó su trabajo sobre parámetros relevantes para desarrollar el concepto de pavimentación perpetua. Además de la variabilidad en la calidad de los materiales utilizados en las capas asfálticas, las modificaciones de polímeros adecuados para la capa asfáltica, la compactación y nivelación y el contenido de humedad de las capas sin ligar, y la mano de obra del contratista, afectarán en gran medida a la realización de una pavimentación perpetua.  

En la exposición que tuvo lugar fuera de las salas de las sesiones, 57 expositores mostraron sus productos y nuevas tecnologías. Una sección aparte se dedicó a la Conferencia de Carreteras de Malasia - La Exposición Invención e Innovación (ARC-III) abierta sólamente para las universidades, con un concurso para la mejor innovación e invención.

Una vez finalizado el Seminairo, 5 grupos de delegados realizaron visitas técnicas al Centro Malayo de Gestión del Tráfico de Autopistas, al Proyecto de tránsporte de cercanías, al Aeropuerto Internacional 2 de Kuala Lumpur, a la Carretera de circunvalación Rawang, a Sunway Resort City, o a la Gestión de las Aguas Pluviales y el Túnel de Carretera en Kuala Lumpur
